Our History
Rewind to 1971…
Reliability and efficiency in construction was always a constant focus for founders Arne Baumann and Lindsay Hardy since establishing Mambare Pty Limited in 1971. From 1971 to 1982, the company carried out construction throughout New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland for clients including Mobil Oil Australia Ltd, Shell company of Australia Ltd, Ampol Ltd, Esso Australia Ltd, Total Australia Ltd, Grace Brothers and Elcom (NSW).
As the Company’s reputation grew, so did the range of varied and far-reaching projects. The Company commissioned some forty-five service stations and seven truck stops as well as major renovations for the GUOOF Building in Castlereagh Street, Sydney, the renovation of the Roselands Shopping centre and the construction of the Inverell Sub-station.
Mambare operated exclusively from its Sydney office until February 1982 when Craig Baumann expanded its activities and established a residential arm of the company, Valley Homes – with a construction office and display village at Raymond Terrace and Maitland in the Hunter Valley.

Craig BAUMANN BE FIEAust CPEng FAIB is a Civil and Structural Engineer and is Director responsible for finance and legal administration. Craig is a licensed builder who graduated in Civil Engineering (Honours) from the University of Sydney in 1976.

The Valley Homes management team comprises the perfect fusion of design, construction, customer service and project management skills. Between them, Rich, Steve & Kaye have over 75 years’ experience in the construction industry.
This team is complimented by experienced support staff and draws on integral relationships with local surveyors, certifiers, town planners and engineers.
We offer an integrated design and construction solution for our investor and developer clients – both these teams working closely together on every project to find the balance between best design practices and cost efficiencies. We also work closely with external architects, project designers and engineers when we are engaged as the builder on multi-unit projects that come to us with existing plans and approvals.
